| Plasma Coil update! After lot's of measuring and frustration, I finally made the final blueprints (okay, it's about a week old): Now, on to the real update. I've had the final peices of PVC cut out and ready to go for a few days now but now I'm making plans to put them together. Measurments of PVC in order: - 12 3/4" x 3" - 12" x 2" (2x) - 8" x 1/2" Orinigally, they were all two feet (except the 1/2" PVC pipe, which was five feet). Since I have two 12" x 2" PVC pipes, I'll use the extra as pipe that goes through the skeleton (the black ring on the picture below). You can see what I mean if you look at the Plasma Coil picture I posted on the first page. Once put together, the skeleton of the Plasma Coil will look a little like this: This part is taking longer since I have to make sure everything will be cutout in the right place. Then, once I have that finished, I can start to shape and carve some Styrofoam that will go on the outside of the Plasma Coil. I bought a pack of four Styrofoam rectangles for $10 and I even found a ring of Styrofoam that fits perfectly around the 3" pipe. I'm using that as the back of the head of the weapon and then I'll add more Styrofoam to that and carve it down to have a slight angle. As for what ShiFT said below, it looks kind of small in the picture but after Styrofoam has been added, it will be a little bigger and about the right dimensions. That's it for now, but if anyone knows a thing or two about Styrofoam, I have a few questions. 1: What would be the easiest way to cut/shape Styrofoam? 2: Can I use hot glue on Styrofoam or will it just melt it? (I don't think it will but I want to make sure.) 3: When I start to paint the Styrofoam, is there a certain paint to use or does it matter? (I know that Spray Paint will melt Styrofoam but I need to make sure that's the only type of paint that does.) Later, I'll post the creature I'm working on. Thanks for helping me with that picture problem ShiFT.
