RATCHET CRASHES
COMIC-CON!
The eyes of the
entertainment world
will be focused on San Diego in a few short weeks, and Insomniac fans
will have reason to cheer yet again.
Last year, we hosted a
panel at the San Diego Comic-Con
for Ratchet
& Clank Future: A Crack in Time where we unveiled the
fan-choice weapon, The Spiral of Death, and had guest appearances by
several Insomniacs and Ratchet & Clank voice actors. This year, we
are going to blow the doors off of the new Ratchet &
Clank comic book mini-series coming this fall from DC and Wildstorm.
The comic is written by Insomniac’s own T.J. Fixman, the writer for
both Quest
for Booty and A
Crack in Time. For fans that were fast enough to buy tickets to the
now-sold-out con, T.J. will be appearing for a panel discussion about
the new series at 6:30pm on Saturday, July 24. He’s one of the nicest
guys on the team (or so he has paid us to say…) and will hang around for
questions and autographs after the panel. There will also be a signing
at the DC Comics booth (#1915) from 3-4pm on Saturday.
DC Direct will also have a
preview of
the second wave of Ratchet & Clank action figures on display. Next
month’s newsletter will have all the juicy details and pictures of these
awesome collector’s items. The comic series and figures will only be
available at select stores, so be sure to use the Comic Shop Locator or call 1-800-COMIC-BOOK
to find the retailer nearest you! We will have plenty of updates on the
show next month, so stay tuned. And if you’re in beautiful SoCal, we
will see you in San Diego!
MEET THE TEAM BEHIND THE GAMES
At Insomniac Games, we pride ourselves on serving the community. Both
our fans, and our community of fellow game developers. While we are
between game announcements, we figured it would be the perfect time to
introduce everyone to some of the faces that make up the diverse staff
here and reminisce about our experiences over the last fifteen years of
game development at Insomniac Games.
Our latest podcast series, Beyond the
Game kicked off earlier this summer with a look into the beekeeping
life of Environment Artist Steve Ratter, and continues this week with
Episode 2: The Drew
Murray Story. For anyone who has ever considered making a big change
in their life, Drew’s is a very inspirational story that proves it is
never too late to turn things around and start over.
Other recent podcasts include an ongoing series of retrospectives where
groups of Insomniacs discuss past projects in depth – revealing
previously secret information about the development behind some of your
favorite Insomniac titles. The first two episodes featured our cancelled
PS2 game, i:5 (Codename:
Girl with a Stick), and Resistance:
Fall of Man. Each podcast is available in both audio and video
formats and includes previously unreleased concept art, renders, and
gameplay footage.
